Dr. Kovens merged his practice with the Katzen Eye Group in 2015. Dr. Kovens graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Psychology and Pre-Professional Studies. He received his Doctor of Optometry Degree when he graduated from Pennsylvania College of Optometry in 1978 as a member of Beta Sigma Kappa, the National Optometric Honor Society.

He did externships with Dr. Leeds Katzen at Mercy Hospital, and the Optometric Center of Maryland. After spending three years examining and managing the Eye Department at a branch of Group Health Association in the Washington, D.C. suburbs, Dr. Kovens opened his practice in Parkton, Maryland. He is a member of the American Optometric Association, The Maryland Optometric Association, and the Greater Baltimore Optometric Society.

Dr. Kovens enjoys golf, the Ravens and the Orioles. He loves spending time with his wife, their children and spouses, and especially his grandchild.
