Dr. Peter Lapinsky joined Katzen Eye Group in 1984. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from Colgate University and earned his medical degree at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in 1980. After completing an internship at Mercy Hospital, he began a residency at the University of Maryland, serving as Chief Resident from 1983-1984.
As a board certified ophthalmologist and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, Dr. Lapinsky serves as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Maryland School of Medicine. In addition, he is an attending Professor of Ophthalmology with the Department of Veteran Affairs Medical Center. A member of many professional societies, he is a diplomat of the American Board of Surgeons as well as a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons.
Dr. Lapinsky is a well-respected ophthalmologist, specializing in refractive and laser vision correction procedures as well as cataract surgery. His experience in refractive surgery dates back to 1984, encompassing the surgical techniques for the correction of nearsightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. As a dedicated cataract surgeon, Dr. Lapinsky has continually refined the small incision Phacoemulsification procedure.
“The most gratifying part of my practice lies in utilizing the latest surgical advances to provide my patients with clear, natural post-operative vision. For cataract patients, this often results in vision far better than they have ever experienced, especially with advanced technology lens implants. Laser vision patients can enjoy a life-changing event, freeing them from dependence on glasses or contact lenses. Their appreciation of what others take for granted remains a powerful inspiration to continually improve as a physician.”
Dr. Lapinsky and his wife currently reside in Ruxton. He is an avid golfer and enjoys cycling and swimming. In his free time he is rarely without a book in his hands.
